A service that the gallery provides is art lessons taught by artist, Anita Loomis. The lessons are private, one-on-one. We can take lessons for two at a time, as long as the pair share a social bubble and do not pose a health risk to each other. Due to insurance restrictions, lessons are only offered to learners age 18 and older. TO SIGN UP PLEASE EMAIL THE GALLERY.
Sometimes the cost of art materials can be a barrier to learning. It is difficult to justify the cost of investing in a wide range of supplies in order to try out a medium. Anita is sensitive to this concern and is able to provide materials for a separate usage charge to tailor your lesson costs.
Your time is valuable, and lessons need to be a good fit for the learner and teacher in order to be successful. Your first lesson is for one hour, and it is FREE. During this time we can find out what your goals and interests are, and you can guage your interest in continuing with lessons.
Presently, the lessons are taught right here in the gallery. Surrounding artwork is protected during the lessons. A different location on the property may be arranged at a later date.
Productive art lessons generally run for 1 1/2 hours each. This allows time to settle in, review, and get into a productive groove. As lessons are private, you can schedule them at your convenience, given availability. The cost of lessons is $35 per person, per 1 1/2 hour session plus any supply cost.
Are you looking to learn how to work in watercolor. It can be a challenging medium. Our classes will provide you with the opportunity to learn techniques, experiment with a variety of paint brands and types, and test a variety of papers. You can work in either abstract or more representational subject matter, and we can explore watercolor, gouache, ink and accent gilding.
The fundamental basis of art is arguably drawing. It is the method by which our ideas for projects are developed and communicated, and is a medium that commands focus. Honing your drawing skills can foster your eye-hand coordination, show you how to look at your world closer, and offers an affordable, easy access form of sophisticated expression. Lessons can focus on drawing technique, attention to light sources and materials.
