Graduating from the Art Institute of Boston, after a stint in the Navey, Russell Aharonian has exhibited throughout New England and beyond since 1970. Influenced by Joan Miro, Wassily Kandinsky and fellow – Armenian Ashile Gorky, his original work invites the viewer into an open ended story-telling circle, spanning Aharonian’s 70 year ecstatic celebration of love, color, life, curiosity, and play.
Annette Brennan specializes in landscape photography. She is originally from Chicago and lived for a long time in Ireland, where she had the opportunity to concentrate on her first love which is landscape photography. When Annette returned to the states, she opened her own gallery in Kennebunkport, Maine in 2008 where she sold her photography of Maine’s coast on canvases in large format. She focuses on seaside themes and continues to study in depth coastal images. Annette studied art at the Maine College of Art in Portland, and continues to explore capturing light in magical moments.
Bess Cutler’s work combines a masterful, dynamic formalism with lush, expressive mark-making to probe Western tropes of figurative art and raw psycho-emotional states fraught with tension and strain. Even at its most explicitly figurative, her work’s complex spatial dynamics, push-pull of forces, shifting, abstracted shapes, translucent underlayers of high-contrast, gestural paint, charcoal, and ghostly abstract lines lift her work away from mere political or sentimental narrative and into the realm of visual poetry. A veteran of New York City’s downtown art scene of the 1980s and ‘90s, Cutler has returned to her New England roots (she’s a graduate of the Museum School) to refocus her energies on the core principles that have driven her most personal creative work. Denise Driscoll is a contemporary American painter who works from the premise that all living things are connected in an intricate mesh of being, yet each occupies the center of their own world. These simultaneous centers of lived experience swirl within and around us, piercing, enveloping, and permeating with or without our notice. Driscoll was included in the inaugural AREA CODE Art Fair in 2020. Her work has been reviewed in Artscope magazine and featured in The Boston Globe. Driscoll is a SOLO2017 winner at Bromfield Gallery with “Geometries of Inner Space” and a Curatorial Opportunity Grant winner with “Material Meditation” at the New Art Center in Newton in 2008. Her paintings and collaborative projects have been shown throughout New England. Driscoll holds an MFA in Visual Arts from Lesley Art + Design (2007) where she currently teaches.
Darlene Furbush Ouellett is an impressionistic painter and print artist. She received her B.F.A. from the University of New Hampshire in 1996, with concentrations in drawing and painting. Darlene has been painting and printmaking since 1996, exhibits and demonstrates her techniques widely in New England, and teaches from her Button Factory Studio in Portsmouth.
A fascination with the beauty and complexity of the microscopic world fuels Kay Hartung’s paintings. Working in encaustic and mixed media, she contemplates the potential impact of cellular activity on the visible universe and the human species. The growth, multiplication, and movement of these biological forms is essential to her creative process, as they travel freely or are captured and tangled in sinuous webs. The imagery, loosely based on observation of biological structures, explores the interconnections of these cellular forms. The process builds layer upon layer suggesting growth, development and movement. Some of the pieces are in more of a static or restful stage whereas others explode with activity. The order and chaos of these biological processes are captured in the imagery.
Hartung received a BFA from Philadelphia College of Art, and an MFA from Syracuse University. She has been awarded grants from the Somerville Arts Council, Malden Arts Council and the Ford Foundation.

Marcia Wise’s paintings of abstracted landscapes, as well as her other bodies of work, evoke the powerful emotional reactions that aspects of nature stir within her. She describes her work as honest peeks into her inner relationship with the world. Her process is a passionate trial of color placement, color relationships, light effects, introspection, form and pattern manipulation, and textural play. Wise received formal training from L’Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux-Arts, France, Art Institute of Boston, MA, and Boston University, MA. She has lived and worked across the US, in Europe and the Middle East.

Pete Ruokis is a New Hampshire-based photographer with over 12 years of professional photography experience.
